Corrugated off road crash barrier, known almost everywhere as Armco, is the standard way to keep vehicles off people, buildings and plant in car parks, factories, warehouses and industrial premises. It absorbs the hit, keeps the vehicle in the traffic space, and turns an expensive repair into a scuffed beam.

Where it is used

Car parks, loading bays, factory and warehouse floors, depot compounds, industrial estates, service yards and access roads — anywhere vehicles work close to people, racking, machinery, gas or electrical installations, or a building line.

Working out quantities

Each beam covers 3.2m of effective run, and you need one more post than beams to close the run off. So a 32m run is 10 beams and 11 posts; a 100m run is 32 beams and 33 posts, with the last beam trimmed or the run adjusted to suit. Add a corner at each change of direction, and an end at each open end.

What else you will need

H posts for heavier duty or Z posts for car park and yard duty, both in dig in or bolt down; corners where the run turns; a fish tail end, pedestrian end or yellow end cap to finish it; plus post bolts and lap bolts. See the full crash barrier range.

Common questions

Why two different lengths? 3504mm is the beam itself; 3200mm is what it adds to the run once it overlaps the next beam at the post. Always plan on 3.2m.

Is this highway barrier? No. This is off road barrier for car parks, yards and industrial premises, not tested road restraint system for the public highway.
