Estate fencing

Open steel parkland railing with horizontal bars rather than verticals — a round top rail over flat cross bars, on slim flat-bar posts.

Also called: estate fence, parkland fencing, estate railing

Estate fencing, as sold here, has no vertical bars at all. Each 2m-wide panel is a 20mm solid round top rail over four 30 x 7.5mm flat horizontal bars, installed at 1.2m above ground and weighing around 35.6kg, carried on 1.8m posts built from 40 x 10mm flat bar. It's the traditional open parkland boundary — built so you can see through it, not to close-bar security spacing.

Frequently asked questions

Does estate fencing have vertical bars?

No — it's built from a round top rail and four flat horizontal bars only, with no verticals, which is what gives it the open parkland look.

Is estate fencing suitable for security?

Not on its own — the wide horizontal-only gaps rule it out anywhere close-bar security is the goal. The bow top and vertical bar ranges are built for that instead.
