Bay
One complete span of fencing between two posts, supplied as a set — pales or a panel plus the rails and fittings to hang it. Fencing is usually priced and ordered by the bay.

A bay is one complete span of fencing between two posts, and it is how palisade is priced and ordered.
Our palisade bays are 2.75m. One bay contains a 100mm x 55mm RSJ post, two rails, 17 pales, two fish plates, four M12 fixings and 34 M8 fixings — the same parts list at every height from 1.2m to 3.0m. Rails can be cut down where a run does not divide evenly.
Counting bays
Divide the run length by 2.75 and round up. Then add one to the post count: a run always needs one more post than it has bays, because the first bay needs a post at each end and every bay after it only adds one.
