Swing arm barrier
A pivoting arm that swings across an access road to close it off. Used on car parks, yards and service roads where the opening is only occasionally blocked.

A swing arm barrier is a manual arm that pivots across an access road to close it. It is the low-cost answer where an entrance needs shutting at night and opening in the morning, traffic volumes are low and there is nobody on a gatehouse.
How it is supplied
Three posts and an arm. The hanging post carries the arm and takes the swing; the locking post receives it closed and takes the padlock; the open post parks and secures the arm clear of the road while the entrance is in use. A padlock is included.
Arms run 3m to 8m in whole metre steps, 1m above ground as standard, in galvanised hollow box section — 95kg at 3m rising to 195kg at 8m. Posts can be sunken or surface mounted.
What it does not do
It stops vehicles, not people. An arm at 1m is walked under, so on a boundary that has to be secure against people it is the weakest point in the perimeter. Frequent use is the other limit: a 195kg arm opened a dozen times a day wants a gate instead.
